A 6 hour drive will take us to the the Juniper Lake Campground, just north of Chester.

Sunday, July 24: Mount Harkness & Crystal Lake Hike
A 5.6 mile, 4 hour hike will take us up Mount Harkness for some killer views and ultimately to remote Crystal lake where we can cool off with a swim.
Monday, July 25: Juniper Lake to Davis Creek
A backroad 4x4 trail will take us along the Susan River to Susanville (photo op!) by lunchtime. From Susanville, we drive another 4 hours to Plum Creek Campground just east of the little hamlet of Davis Creek.

Tuesday, July 26: Rockhounding, then on to Tulelake
We'll be taking a 4x4 trail to go hunting for "obsidian needles" (susan's favorite mineral!). We hear there's a chance to catch a glimpse of wild horses! Then we're off on a 4 hour journey to the Lava Beds National Monument. We'll be staying at a little campground called Indian Well.

Wednesday, July 27: Ice caves, petroglyphs, then on to Oregon
A hike will take us through lava beds and ice caves. We'll also get to see some petroglyphs. Then on to Oregon where we'll recoup and use some of Mike's hard-earned Holiday Inn points!

Thursday, July 28: Leisurely Redwoods Hike
We'll drive to Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park and camp there, northeast of Crescent City. We'll hike the Boy Scout Tree Trail. Our guidebook has this to say about the hike: "These few hours can change how you feel about the world." We'll spend the night either at the same campground or we may find a new one in the Redwoods.

Friday, July 29: More Redwoods Exploration and then on to the Lost Coast
A day of relaxation in the Redwoods will be followed by a 3.5 hour drive to Shelter Cove on the Lost Coast. A nice Bed & Breakfast awaits.

We'll leisurely explore Shelter Cove and the surrounding area.
Sunday, July 31: Return Home
Back home!
